Admiral Benbow: Fact and Fiction Part II

By Sir Geoffrey Callender and C. J. Britton, published November 1944

Abstract

The subject refers to the Admiral’s five sons and daughters, whose biographies are briefly explained. There is also a summarized reference to his will, printed in full at the end of the paper, made by the Admiral before his last campaign. This contains the nomination of three executors, instructions for his interment, and disposal of his estate. The paper includes the visit of the Russian king Peter the Great, who possibly met to the Admiral at his home in Milton, and ends with a long summary of aspects of his biography which are in doubt.
