Abstract

This is an account of the landing of Garibaldi in Sicily, which was sent to Mussolini in 1934. The author, Edward W. Turner, joined the Royal Navy as an Ordinary Seaman and was drafted to HMS Argus, a steam paddle and sailing cruiser in 1858. Turner left the Royal Navy and went into the Merchant Navy, in which he came to command and own the barque Mertola.
