The Mercantile Marine Act of 1850 required the masters of British registered vessels to compile and return a legal record, an official log, of certain occurrences during a voyage. Presented here are the official logs for the 1901–2 voyage of the sailing vessel Formosa, out from Antwerp to San Diego, and then back, via Astoria and Portland, to Liverpool.
