Document: The Loss of the Ville de Paris
Abstract
The 24 March 1783 document is James Wilson’s account of the sinking of his Majesty’s ship Ville de Paris en route from Kingston, Jamaica to Great Britain. He was rescued by a Danish vessel and following his recuperation on the Continent he returned to Cowes, Isle of Wight, aboard a Russian ship.
