Identification of Models of Men of War Part II

By Gregory Robinson & R.C. Anderson, published June 1912

Abstract

A ship’s model in the museum of the T.S. Mercury bears the coat-of-arms of the Mordaunt family. The model can be identified as the Mordaunt 46, built by Castle at Deptford in 1681 for Lord Mordaunt, afterwards Earl of Peterborough, and bought for the Royal Navy in 1683, having been the subject of a warrant of arrest by the Admiralty Marshal. She was lost off Cuba in 1693.
