By R.C. Anderson, published January 1920

Abstract

Auguste Jal, author of “Archéologie Navale” has long been considered a pre-eminent authority on nautical archeology, but following the precedent established in an earlier article by A.B. Wood, Professor Anderson ventures to correct some mistakes in Mémoire No. 7: “Sur les Vaisseaux ronds de Saint Louis”. These corrections deal with the mistranslation of terms in two contemporary documents in Latin, which Anderson believes to have resulted in the publication of incorrect dimensions and proportions for the ship Roccafortis.
