A Japanese Print of a Dutch East Indiaman

A description of a print of the 1737 built Dutch East Indiaman Schellach, drawn whilst she was in Japan in1748-9, and given by the Mikado to Rear-Admiral Sir M. W. Van Rensselaer Bowier commander of the Koningin Emma in Japan in 1881 as a souvenir of the old relations between Japan and Holland after the Admiral had presented to the Mikado on behalf of King William III the Grand Cross of the Order of the Netherlands.
