Society Dinner on board HMS Warrior, Saturday 11 June 2022

January 2022

On Saturday 11 June Members of the Society and their guests are invited to dine on the gun deck of HMS Warrior following the Annual General Meeting and a tour of the ship. Unfortunately, this year we cannot hold the event on Victory as major conservation work involves significant disruption to access of the internal spaces.

Numbers allowed to dine on board are strictly limited.  No more than 102 people can be accommodated so it is recommended that you book early to avoid disappointment.  Unfortunately we only have about three dozen places available as the majority have been reserved and already paid for,  but transferred from previous years due to Covid.  New bookings are now open and will be taken in the order received. Once all places are sold, there will be a Reserve List in case there are cancellations or non-payments.

This year the charge for the dinner, which includes the cost of the reception on the quarterdeck, is £75.00 per person.

The provisional programme for the day is:

  • 00 pm to 4.30 pm. Annual General Meeting of the Society in the Princess Royal Gallery of the National Museum of the Royal Navy, Portsmouth followed, hopefully, by a tour of the refurbished ‘Victory Gallery’.
  • 30pm to 6.15pm. Tour of HMS Warrior to which all members are invited whether or not they choose to dine.
  • 15pm. Reception on the quarterdeck.
  • 00pm. Three course dinner on the atmospheric gun deck.
  • 30pm. Leave the ship.

Please book your places by emailing your details, and those of any guests, listing any dietary requirements, to alistairroach@snr.org.uk.  Once registered as ‘booked’ you will have the option of paying by either cheque or BACS.

NB – Only drivers with Blue Badges are allowed to park in the dockyard, and these drivers will be asked to provide the Honorary Secretary with the make, colour and registration number of the car in which they are travelling.  They will need to provide photographic ID such as a passport or a photo driving licence.
