Abstract
Whall seeks to clarify a misunderstanding raised in MM Volume 1, Issue 6 concerning the wide spacing of registration numbers of vessels built at broadly the same time. Whall points out that blocks of numbers were allocated to different ports and, therefore, if the two vessels mentioned in the article were registered at different ports their numbers could be widely spaced.
