Note: The Howland Great Wet Dock

By Douglas Owen, published July 1912

Abstract

Owen seeks to clarify the name change and the reason for Sir Charles Middleton referring to the dock by its latter name. In his view Middleton had to use Greenland Dock as at least 37 years had elapsed since it had been known by the above name and not many of his contemporaries would have realised they were one and the same.
