Abstract

Callender seeks to clarify the meaning of the phrase “Whether or no, Tom Collins”, which was regularly used in Marryat and Chamier’s writings. He believed it to be the equivalent of willy nilly and not an extract from a tune. (See Olaf Hartelie MM Volume 1, Issue 11).
