Abstract

David Bonner-Smith, who died in December 1950, was a frequent contributor to The Mariner’s Mirror, which he edited from 1932 to 1939. As Admiralty Librarian David Bonner-Smith was highly influential in nautical research matters. On retiring in 1959, and in recognition of his long and useful service to the Society, he was elected an Honorary Vice-President. His lasting legacy was the publication Commissioned Sea Officers of the Royal Navy 1660-1815, which was finally completed after his death.
