Obituary: Dr Colin Saunders White

Abstract

Colin White, who died in December 2007, was greatly respected both as an outstanding museum professional and naval historian. He joined the staff of the Royal Naval Museum in 1975, as a research assistant, and spent the whole of his professional life in the museum sector. In the mid-1980s he became Chief Curator and Head of Interpretation and Display and was appointed Deputy Director and Head of Museum Services in 1996. His final position was that of Director of the Royal Naval Museum, a post he held from June 2006.
