Despite the title of this article, it actually covers a brief history of piracy around the British Isles leading up to the sixteenth century, when it then concentrates on the activities of pirates based around the area of Poole, Dorset. It gives details of their adventures, in both the contemporary and modern senses, their markets and their comeuppances, in some detail.
