Remains of the Ancient Ports and Anchorage Points at Miyani and Visawada, on the West Coast of India: a Study Based on Underwater Investigations
Abstract
An extensive underwater visual inspection was made of the Saurashtra coast of Gujarat, India, between 2004 and 2006. A number of Stone Anchors, Indo-Arabia, Ring Stone and Composite types, were found and analysis suggested that the mouths of sheltered creeks were being used as anchoring points between the early Christian and early Medieval periods.
