Abstract

The Admiralty Progress Books provide the historian with a near continuous record of the building, repair and maintenance of Royal Navy ships over a period of more than two centuries, from around 1700 to 1912. This article analyses information on repairs from the Progress Books that cover the eighteenth century, including discussion of the data not included in them.
