Sir Anthony Deane

By A. W. Johns, published May 1925

Abstract

A very good article on the life and times of Sir Anthony Deane from contemporary sources, much of the information gleamed from Pepys diary, as both were good friends. Highlights include details of Deane’s life that highlight his Naval accomplishments, not only as a shipwright but also as an advanced thinker in cannon design and ship design. Curiously, he was knighted while Pepys was not. This is a very good biography of an important individual in King Charles II period.
