Could you please tell me more about the “monograph about Josiah Nibet published in Australia in the 1990s”?

The spoon was sold by Nisbet’s descendants, I believe. I don’t remember too much about it, to be honest; I just remember that it all seemed pretty convincing. The badge at the top of the spoon, notably the three boars’ heads
and the motto, is supposedly Nisbet’s family crest. Other of Josiah’s possessions were in the sale: the most desirable was his telescope, which I would certainly have bought except that it was over £1,000. My spoon was £100.

There are two Nisbet family knife rests on the same website. If genuine, the date of manufacture suggests that Josiah would have used them:
