      I am looking into the transfer of information during the 17th century (mainly 1660+) and was wondering if anyone knew of any books, leaflets, etc on published diaries of this period? Any suggestions of where to find this information also gratefully received.

        Perhaps the most obvious one would be ” Barlow’s Journal Of His Life At Sea in King’s Ships, East & West Indiamen & Other Merchantmen From 1659 to 1703″; edited by Basil Lubbock and published in 2 volumes in 1934.

          Ingram. B (ed)., Three sea journals of Stuart times (London, 1936) is worth a read, and the bibliography in Earle. P., Sailors: English Merchant Seamen 1650-1775 (London, 1998) has a useful bibliography.
