It would be most helpful to me to learn how early the French fishermen were using luggers on the Brittany and Normandy coasts. There is some possibility that, if they were in use in the late 17th century, they may have influenced the rigs of Royal Navy two-masted sloops of war around that time. If anyone knows, or has any idea to whom I could put this question, I would most appreciate the information. The work to which it is applicable is in progress.
