Among other drawings and diagrams in Lieutenant Bryan’s notebooks and diaries is this one of Harvey’s Sea Torpedo invented in 1869. There is a wealth of information published on this device, however it would be interesting to know which Naval ships carried this armament on board and whether it was ever used in anger.
Lt Bryan also inserted a diagram on the Prussian System of firing torpedos. The way this operates it lost on me. The captions on the diagram read; “TORPEDO TABLE Exaggerated in order to show system more plainly”. and “Electric connection between B’s glass and C.”
Lt Bryan commenced his career in the Royal Navy in 1865 as a Naval Cadet and ended it in 1881 as a Lieutenant.
