In the collection of The Rijksmuseum is a brass swivel gun (museum ref. NG-MC-790-1), possibly made in France and dating from either the late 18th or early 19th century. On the gun near the flint lock the inscription ‘Gaval invenit RVK / c N° 123 / P.31.L’ can be found. However, we have not been able to locate this maker.
All information relating to the swivel gun and its maker Gaval is very welcome. A hi-res image of the swivel gun can be found at: http://www.rijksmuseum.nl/assetimage2.jsp?id=NG-MC-790-1.
