Spanish Armada Guns

By I.A.A. Thompson, published November 1975

Abstract

In this article, the author goes into great detail researching the guns of the Spanish Armada of 1588, and reappraised the conclusions reached in The Spanish Armada, by Michael Lewis.  In some ways, Lewis is confirmed, but generally it is proven that the Spanish were sufficiently under gunned, when compared to the English, that they could not have won the battle under any circumstances.
