Abstract

The author of this article seeks to educate the reader in the differences between telegraphs and semaphores, and also explores the possible sites and uses of such devices from the 18th century onwards. Drawings and illustrations are given as well as descriptions of possible sites and configurations. An appendix is given with sites and dates of telegraph and semaphore stations.
