The First Clipper

An authoritative discussion of the claim made on behalf of the Scottish Maid from an article in the April 1943 issue of The Mariner’s Mirror. The term ‘clipper’ is of American origin predating the Scottish Maid and actually refers a fast sailing, fine lined vessel rather than any new specific design or construction.
