The Society Annual Lecture 1958: The Boats of Pakistan
Abstract
Both East and West Pakistan are dominated by their river systems, which provide important means of transportion and industry. The lecture illustrated the methods of construction of the present day fishing boats of Karachi, unchanged from those of antiquity. The huge rivers of East Pakistan have given rise to very different boat building techniques. The lecture ended with a plea to all those interested in boats or sailing in them to document what they saw.
